Coaching & Leadership Staff – Renfrew Jr. B Timberwolves

President, Renfrew Wolves Hockey Club / GM, Jr. B Timberwolves – Brent Gould
Brent Gould serves as both President of the Renfrew Wolves Hockey Club and General Manager of the Jr. B Timberwolves, providing strategic oversight and day-to-day leadership for the entire Wolves organization—from Jr. A and Jr. B operations to broader development programs and community engagement.
As President, Brent’s role includes long-term planning, organizational growth, sponsor relations, and fostering strong ties with the Renfrew community. His commitment to the club is rooted in building a sustainable, competitive program that develops players on and off the ice.
As General Manager of the Jr. B Timberwolves, Brent oversees hockey operations including player recruitment, staffing, team structure, and performance development. His ability to build strong coaching teams and foster a culture of professionalism and accountability has helped elevate the Timberwolves within the EOJHL.
Brent is known for his steady leadership, collaborative approach, and dedication to creating a positive environment for athletes, coaches, families, and fans alike.

Head Coach – William Watson
With more than 22 years of coaching experience, William Watson brings a seasoned, passionate, and disciplined approach to the Timberwolves bench. A native of Madoc and Belleville before transitioning into coaching across several major hockey organizations including the GTHL, USA Hockey, OWHA, and OMHA. Since moving to the Upper Ottawa Valley, he’s become a respected leader within HEO.
William’s coaching accolades include multiple league championships, tournament wins, and a Silverstick title, most recently capped by a 2024–25 HEO U18AA Playoff Championship with the Valley Aces. He emphasizes team-first values, playing with grit, and relentless preparation.
His coaching philosophy is built on Respect, Accountability, and Effort—instilling in his players the mental toughness and focus required to be “hard to play against” night in and night out.

Assistant Coach – Brad van Schubert
Brad brings an unmatched blend of elite hockey experience and military leadership to the Timberwolves. A former goaltender in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Brad played four seasons at the top junior level before continuing at Royal Military College (RMC) in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference.
Off the ice, Brad is a Platoon Commander with the 3rd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment (3 RCR), where he leads the Direct Fire Support Platoon in a light infantry role. This military background informs his coaching style—bringing structure, discipline, and composure to his work with young athletes.

Assistant Coach – Ethan Lapenskie
Ethan Lapenskie joins the Timberwolves staff with a strong sense of hometown pride and a commitment to goaltender mentorship. Having grown up in Barry’s Bay, Ethan played his entire minor and junior hockey career in Renfrew County, including four seasons as a goaltender with the Jr. B Timberwolves—giving him deep insight into the values and culture of the program.
Currently playing for the Madawaska Valley Wolves Sr. A team in the Northern Pro Hockey League (NPHL), Ethan offers a current and relatable perspective to the players he’s now mentoring. As a coach, he’s especially passionate about supporting young goaltenders in developing confidence, technique, and resilience under pressure.
